Bishop George Matthews pens Christian book entitled For Your Good. This book provides a window into the inner experiences of a Bishop who has spent his life serving God and the church. Although For Your Good follows Bishop George Matthew’s experiences, his book focuses more on the lessons learned than specific events. “All things work together for your good,” is the main message presented in this book. Throughout this book, Bishop Matthew’s primary goal is to encourage readers who feel they have been the target of shame or misuse within the church. In For Your Good, Bishop Matthews’ relatable storytelling style provides a powerful read for his audience.


 

Bishop George Matthews holds both a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s of Divinity in Chaplaincy. Following his educational pursuits, Bishop Matthews began serving in the Church of God in Christ. In addition to filling many roles in the church, Bishop Matthews formerly held the position of State Youth President with the California Northwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. As president, he oversaw over 120 church youth departments. As the Chaplaincy Administrator with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Bishop Matthews oversaw 250 volunteers and 6 chaplains who provided Religious support to over 2500 inmates. Bishop Matthews has also served as a Hospice Chaplain since 2019 with Kaiser Permanente. Using all of his experience, Bishop Matthews founded Genesis Worship Center in 2003, and the church now employs 8 full-time staff who provides housing, feeding programs, and services to those in East Oakland. In 2021, the church completed a $2.5 million construction project with annual revenues of $1.6 million. For Your Good is inspired by Bishop Matthews’ professional, spiritual, and lifelong personal journeys.
