Author Julius Van Hook, Inspire His Readers To Leave Toxic Relationships With Dignity!

September 1, 2017

What inspired you to write your book, Do It with Dignity: A 30-Day Guide to Help You Let Go of Things and People That Hold You Back?

As a young man who was raised in the metroplex of the San Francisco Bay Area yet reared in a household of older Louisianans where Sunday School and college was not an option, we grew our own organic food, and family travel was a common practice. You can imagine the dichotomy and duality of my reality. Although I was privy to a stellar education and heard hundreds of Creole proverbs in my lifetime to lace me with the road map for life, what it all boiled down to was that despite my experiences, whether tragedy or triumph, I had to love and embrace the essence of who I am. One day I realized that I had too much joy, light focus, and happiness in my soul to make room for the burdens that I used to carry.

What can readers take away from your book?

For as long as I can remember, my mother would tell me, "It's not always what you do. It's how you do it!" First, you must value and love yourself, and then not only will you learn how to create your atmosphere, but you will learn how to protect your atmosphere, and you will be reminded that you are ultimately responsible for maintaining your atmosphere. I want each reader to know that If they walked away from any toxic, negative, abusive, one-sided, dead-end, low vibrational relationship or friendship—business or pleasure—you won! Do it with dignity.

What is your favorite chapter in this book, and why?

All of them!

Are you planning to write other books?

Absolutely. Stay tuned for different genres of my writing. It's only the beginning. I rebuke writer's block!

What's a cool or interesting fact about yourself?

I am an ancestry and genealogy historian. I am fascinated with not just with my family's culture and history but others as well. I have traced several sides of my family back to the 1400s, and it’s a never-ending journey. Tracing ancestry for people is a hobby that I have been successful with that I am in the process of turning it into a lucrative business venture.

What is some advice you would give aspiring or first-time authors?

Write freely and let who you are be embodied in what you write. Express all your creativity, and whatever you do, do it authentically. You never know who you will in inspire or bless.
